Manhole cover in Naples, Italy

The dark metal surface features a grid pattern surrounding a circular inscription with the year 1892. This example, clearly a product of the early industrial era, bears the marks of time and testifies to the robustness of the foundry industry of the time. The Institute of Lidology would classify it as a typical example of late 19th century urban infrastructure, with a fascinating resistance to erosion.
