Manhole cover in Matera, Italy

A distinctive diamond pattern covers the surface of this specimen, with a central diamond containing the inscription "AQ" and a rectangular hole. The inscription 'ACQUEDOTTO PUGLIESE' winds elegantly around the perimeter, suggesting its regional origin and purpose. The presence of a cigarette butt on its surface provides an interesting, if unplanned, context for the study of human interaction with urban infrastructure, as the Institute of Lidology would attest.

Charakteristický diamantový vzor pokrývá povrch tohoto exempláře, s centrálním kosočtvercem obsahujícím nápis "AQ" a obdélníkový otvor.
