Manhole cover in Oedt, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany

The municipality of Grefrath consists of the larger town of Grefrath and the smaller town of Oedt. When the two towns merged in 1970, the beautiful old heraldic coats of arms were replaced with this simple yet elegant lily. The lily refers to the ancient noble family von Greverode. The beautiful silver and gold colors in the coat of arms are, of course, not visible on the lid, but can be admired on this Wikipedia page.
