Manhole cover in Berosh, Israel

caryfukOn the dark circular surface, set in light gravel, a cross pattern divides the surface into four information segments. These segments, decorated with stylised foliage and perhaps camels in the centre, contain multilingual inscriptions such as 'Exit', 'Roman Tower' and 'Byzantine Quarter', accompanied by directional arrows. The Institute of Lidology would describe this specimen as a remarkable artefact of navigational design, referencing historic sites with dry British humour.
